RESPONDING TO COVID-19 IN INDIA – A HEALTH POLICY PERSPECTIVE
Tejas Deshmukh and Gajendra Parmar
The COVID-19 outbreak has now emerged as massive global health and humanitarian crisis. The poorest and the most marginalized are the most affected and will be disproportionately disadvantaged as the crisis continues. There is an urgent need to respond accordingly which takes care of both short term/ immediate requirements like food security, testing, awareness building, the supply of personal protective measures etc. as well as long term planning like strengthening the healthcare infrastructure at different levels, livelihood planning for the poor & disadvantaged. Also, the scale of response is equally important.
