Founding Editor-in-Chief

Avi Jain

Avi is a development enthusiast and a traveler. Avi is the founding member and current Editor-in-chief of The Rural Post. A Post-Graduation in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), he specializes in public policy, development consulting, communications and research. He has also served as a Microsoft C2I fellow, Dalai Lama Fellow and have been an invitee of German Chancellor's Fellowship. He has also worked on establishing sustainable impact strategies for NGOs, government departments, CSRs, and schools as a Stanford VentureStudio fellow. He has a diverse set of experience in education, livelihoods, and rural development with various institutions like SEWA, Kala Raksha, Janvikas, MHRD (Now Ministry of Education). He is an ardent believer of Design Thinking. He believes in the idea of imperfections and embraces every coexisting phenomenon in life.

Aswini

A seasoned C-Suite Professional able to offer gravitas leadership, make strategic decisions and give advice to senior leadership up to board level. Having a solid background in Media, International Development, Sports, Fundraising, CSR, Program Management, Organisational development, strategic positioning and business partnership. 
Had been enabling the achievement of outcomes by identifying, influencing championing change, embracing diversity, removing potential barriers to success and leading others in a professional manner.
As a visionary leader, have taken care both internally and externally for high level critical thinking to identify links and single out critical issues risk and make informed decisions even with limited info, engaging beyond the organizations boundaries to achieve overall objectives.

Editor-in-Chief

Himanshi

Himanshi Singh is responsible for brand communication and implementation of sustainable development initiatives at Jaipur Rugs. She specialises in policy ideation, field research, story-telling and brand development. She has been instrumental in conceptualising various initiatives based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and communication strategies for linking and mobilizing grassroots communities, and grasping the needs of the global market. She is the voice of the brand and has represented artisan communities at various platforms like New York Fashion Week, Sankalp Forum, Uniting Business Live, 2021 on side lines of the UN General Assembly.

Vishakha

Vishakha is a vision oriented person. Vishakha is passionate about bridging the gap between Journalism and Development. A post graduate in Broadcast Journalism from MIT World Peace University Pune, she specializes in reporting on startups and social impact. She has diverse set of work experience in Journalism and social work with  renowned organizations like ZEE NEWS, CNBC TV-18, WWF INDIA etc. Besides this, she is also a kathak dancer and has been honoured with National Awards. She is inclined towards spirituality and following  Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism since 2012.

Podcast Anchor - Countryside

Riddhika Bhandari

Riddhika is working as the podcast manager for Countryside podcast at The Rural Post. Earlier she has worked with Janvikas as a Consultant for Education and Health skill development programme. She is a development practitioner and has completed her Post Graduation in Development Studies from  Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). She has also served as project leader in Paryavaran Mitra, for Initiative "GIFT OF CHANGE" where women from slum are taught to create beautiful products out of waste, upcycling self sustaining model. She is also leading a social enterprise "Peeli Kursi", a furniture brand which involves craftmen directly from indeginous crafts of India. Being an handloom enthusiast she worked with Loomkatha, an social enterprise on "Reviving the craft of Himroo weave and documentation of the craft Aurangabad, Maharashtra." She has been actively serving in the development sector and believes in the idea of developing nation through Enterprise creation.

Communications Manager

Madhulina Halder

Coming from an engineering background, she started off with a start-up as an event manager and a co-founder.Worked as a social worker in many NGOs and NPOs in her graduation life. With a keen interest in rural development and the social sector,  she joined IRMA. Along with reading, writing and doing research work, she also likes to paint and dance in her free time. As a Kathak dancer since her childhood, she  never misses  a beat to tap her feet. With a knack for acting, she is also a part of the IRMA Dramatic Club.

Basant Rautela

Brand Manager

Srishti Singh

Being adept at Critical thinking and empathy, Srishti has inculcated good interpersonal skills and handles the Brand Relations, Outreach and Graphic Designing for TRP. Through Rural Post, she wishes to collaborate with passionate storytellers unfolding the rural discourse. She is from the PGDM-RM 41 batch of IRMA where she learnt to evaluate a situation from the viewpoint of Social Equity, Economic Profit and Ecological Stability. She is passionate about Consumer Behaviour as well as the Rural Society and is often seen doing Calisthenics in her free time.

Digital Operations

Himadri 

Himadri is an avid coder and believes in solving practical problems rather than theoretical muddles. Being an engineer by interest and rural manager by choice, he is constantly on the lookout for avenues to apply his technical learnings to bring a positive change in the rural development domain. Coming from the land of lush valleys and plains, Assam, he has been attached to the rural sphere for most of his life. He wishes to make the voice of the farmers heard through The Rural Post which otherwise goes unheard by the mainstream media. Apart from that, he loves to travel, read a good book, and sometimes can be found strumming the Ukulele.

Brand Manager

Priyanshu Verma


Priyanshu is working as a brand manager and graphic designer at The Rural Post. A mechanical engineering graduate and having worked at Bosch Ltd., Priyanshu belongs to the 41st batch of IRMA (PRM41). He hails from Bihar, and having been closely related to the rural parts he wants to use his learnings combined with technology to uplift the rural India. He is also an avid swimmer and has won many accolades. Apart from that he spends most of his time on guitar, music, movies, social media and reading about technological advancements.

Podcast Manager

Disha Bhavnani

Disha is volunteering as the Podcast Manager, and Host at The Rural Post’s Countryside Podcast. She aims to bring in stories that create an impact on the unserved or underserved segments in India across various themes through her podcast. Primarily, her interest areas focus on climate change, circular economy, and sustainability.

 

She works as a Digital Financial Services Consultant, and has an inclusive finance sector experience of over six years, gained through projects with banks, agent network managers, mobile money operators, government departments, insurance agencies, clean energy product manufacturers, international funding agencies, microfinance institutions, FinTechs, and community-based institutions in Asia Pacific. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management from one of the prestigious institutions in India, Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), Gujarat, India.

When she is not working, she enjoys photography, travel, and upcycling of waste.

Priyanka Joshi

Priyanka Joshi is currently pursuing M.A. Development Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia. Coming from a science background and exploring many fields she made an appearance in the communication sector. She has worked as an extension worker, content writer and a digital markerteer. She is currently working as a graphic designer in social media marketing team in The Rural Post. Coming from the land of gods, Uttarakhand, she always have an urge to save and conserve what nature and rural India holds within itself. So being a development communicator herself she is keen to work for the development of the rural sector of India.  Her agenda in life is to work for a good cause. She believes in giving her 100% in what she does.

Krati Goyal

Krati is working as an editor at The Rural Post. She is a highly self-motivated individual, willing to go the extra mile to reach goals and working on various ways to address different socio-economic challenges in society. A socio-economic researcher and rural development professional with a panache of skill training and project implementation along with MSW from TISS, School of Rural development. She holds a hands-on experience of working in rural hinterlands of India with different NGOs, CSR, and government agencies which helped her to understand the people living in the low strata of society and their daily challenges. She believes that we can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone to make this world a better place to live.

Vaidehi Somaiya

A feminist, Vaidehi has always been an advocate of social activism. She believes in bringing change through sharing stories.
